Kiverton Waters owned by British water ways

I 've been fishing this venue for about a year now. When I first started back last August I couldn't believe the amount of fish that was been caught, the match weights were huge, my best day saw 28 carp landed all around 4 to 5 pound mark. I'd never get less than 15 carp every visit through the summer into early autum. I also lost a good few. The carp in this water are as wide as they are long they are a lovely looking fish that fight like mad. Unfortunately like most new fisheries Kiverton waters suffered teething problems. Earlier this year the oxygen levels in the water dropped dangerously low and the fishery lost a lot of fish, it mainly appeared to be the carp that suffered. The people that run this place are so friendly, positive and honest with you and have reasured me that the carp lake is going to be netted and the damage fully assesed then re stocked may be for next year. They have made a start by putting a fair few stockies into the silver fish lake which up to the floods were showing in good weights and numbers. During the floods both lakes merged mixing the fish up a bit. A lot of match anglers lost faith with this water even though good Tench nets were been taken. But with how the venue fishing at the moment I'm sure things are starting to look better. The main tactics here seem to be the pole or feeder. I personaly fish the pole with 2 or 3 sections. On many occations including Thursday I had the carp feeding confidently at my feet for most of the day, just keep the feed going in a little at a time. Other proven metods are fishing to the far bank on the big lake or up to the island in the small pond. How ever I find this lake very comfortable with good disabled access, clean toilet facilities and you can buy limited baits from the ticket office. The car park is spot on with no long dirt tracks to wreck our cars. The silver fish lake is brilliant for begginers as well as for the all rounder I'm confident using maggot would produce silver fish and the odd carp all day.

To get here is simple exit the M1 at junction 31 Sheffield and follow the A57 towards Worksop. Take the 1st right as you get to the brow of the hill. Follow the road for about 1 mile to the T junction. Turn right over speed bumps and follow the road for at least a mile passed Kiverton hall farm fishery. At the staggered cross roads turn left then immediately right passed a car garage. Follow the road for about 800yrds over a small bridge and the fishery is on the right. Be careful it's easy to miss look for the British water ways sign. For further information call 07773102488 or 07789954452 or feel free to e mail me on adi_gavbo@hotmail.com
