KJS Fisheries, Killamarsh. This is an extensive complex that is situated at the top of Station Road in Killamarsh. The waters were created in 1990 and the work has continued with the creation of a new 60-peg pool. There are 4 waters that are available for fishing at present, with plenty of parking near to the waters. There are good facilities on site with toilets; food available and most pegs are suitable for anglers with disabilities. All the waters carry quite a bit of colour at most times of the year. The first water, nearest to the road is the Mixed Coarse Lake, with an average depth of between 5 and 6 ft and a total of 21 pegs to fish from. The water is very heavily stocked with skimmers, roach and rudd to 2lb, some carp to 8lb and the odd bream 5lb, catfish (4lb), tench (3lb), perch (2lb), golden orfe (3lb). There is a small central island, that can be fished to but you really don't need to go that far out to catch fish. Maggot, caster and worm all work well on here. To really bag up on this water fish light to start, and only go heavier if the fish dictate it. The next lake down is called West Pines, and is a strange shape, again offering a central island, and marginal reeds to target. The stocking policy is similar to the above, but has a few more carp and also some eels have been taken from here up to 6lb. As you go further into the complex you will find the Carp Lake, which has a total of 26 pegs to choose from. It has the island and also plenty of inside line features to target, and is roughly about 5 to 6 ft deep in most places. As its name suggest there are some very nice carp in here topping the 20lb mark. There are koi carp to 5lbs together with bream, tench and roach. The last pond available at this time is the canal pool, which doesn't have an island but does have 46 pegs to have a go at. There are carp in here to 14lb, some very nice perch above 4lb, roach and rudd that go to a pound and a half. This is probably the shallowest pond on the complex, averaging a little over 4 ft in most places. Corn and meat score well Day tickets for the ponds are £5.00. The usual restrictions apply: no keepnets, no groundbait and barbless hooks only. All anglers must be possession of a landing net. Open all year round, fishing from dawn until dusk. No litter. There is ample car parking places, and on the roadside along the pools. With there being so much variety of fish here it is worthwhile taking a large selection of baits. Expander pellets work well on most of the pools, with catmeat coming into its own. There were quite a few anglers using cockles and taking carp. Directions - Leave the A616 out of Sheffield towards Mosborough. Turn left at the traffic lights and go straight over the traffic island towards Killamarsh. You then go under a bridge and before you get to the next one you turn right into Station Road, you will find the entrance signposted from here.
